How does the travel buddy matching work?

You share your flight details via our form. If another traveler on the same flight offers or requests help, you are connected by email to coordinate travel assistance.

What kind of help can volunteers offer?

Volunteers may offer airport navigation, language translation, baggage assistance, or general support during a layover or flight journey.

Yes, the matching service itself is currently free. Any costs associated with travel or compensation for assistance must be agreed upon directly between the matched travelers.

Is my personal information shared publicly?

No. Your email and flight details are kept confidential and are only shared with your consent when a match is found.

What types of documents can be sent via courier?

Typically urgent, lightweight documents like passports, visas, birth certificates, or university transcripts. No prohibited items are allowed.

How do I request someone to carry my document?

Fill out the courier request form with your travel route and document details. We will match you with verified travelers on the same route who have offered to carry documents.

What are the platform security measures?

We verify user accounts where possible and only share necessary information (like email and flight details) after a mutual match is confirmed. We recommend all users exercise good judgment.

What countries does NRI TravelBuddy operate in?

NRI TravelBuddy is a global platform. Its most active corridor is India and Germany, and it also serves routes between India and the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Ireland and wider Europe, as well as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and United Arab Emirates. Routes within Europe and other international routes are welcome too.

Is NRI TravelBuddy a registered company or a volunteer initiative?

NRI TravelBuddy is a community initiative run by volunteers. It is not a registered company, does not charge fees, and relies entirely on the goodwill of the traveling community.

How is NRI TravelBuddy different from professional concierge services?

NRI TravelBuddy is peer-to-peer and free. Unlike paid concierge services, it connects community members directly. There are no service guarantees, commercial contracts, or insurance — it is built on community trust.

What happens if no travel buddy match is found?

If no match is found immediately, your request remains active in our system. You will be notified by email if a matching traveler signs up for the same flight route.

Can I use NRI TravelBuddy for domestic flights within India?

Currently, NRI TravelBuddy is focused on international flight routes. Domestic flight matching within India is not supported at this time.

What documents cannot be sent via the NRI TravelBuddy courier service?

The courier service is only for lightweight personal documents such as passports, visas, and certificates. Cash, jewellery, electronics, commercially valuable goods, and any customs-declarable items are strictly not allowed.

Is NRI TravelBuddy available as a mobile app?
